Protecting agricultural resources
We have been at the forefront of protecting the important natural and agricultural resources that make up Santa Clara County. For example, in response to community complaints, we recently sued a company transporting hazardous waste from construction sites to protected agricultural land in Almaden Valley, and then dumping the slurry that then flowed into protected waterways. As a result of this action, the Santa Clara County Superior Court ordered the dumping to stop immediately. County Counsel has also sued property owners to prevent them from continuing to misuse protected agricultural lands in violation of the County Ordinance Code in ways that threaten to undermine the lands’ long-term agricultural viability.
