Deputy County Counsel
Overview
Willie joined the Office of the County Counsel in 2020. He is a member of the Community Protection Team, representing the County in legal proceedings to enforce State and local laws to protect the well-being of county residents. Willie is also a member of the Environment and Land Use Team, advising County departments on a variety of legal issues. Prior to joining the County, Willie served as Staff Counsel for the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, helping to keep California workers safe from workplace health and safety hazards. He also was a Clinical Teaching Fellow at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and a staff attorney at Legal Aid at Work. Before going to law school, Willie was a member of Teach for America and taught elementary school in Oakland, California. Willie’s professional expertise includes administrative and civil litigation, employment law, occupational safety and health, and administrative rulemaking.
