Steve Mitra
Assistant County Counsel
Overview
Steve Mitra oversees the Finance, Government Operations, and Technology Team. He counsels the Board of Supervisors, the Office of the County Executive, and County departments and agencies as they navigate policy and implementation decisions. Steve’s areas of focus include artificial intelligence, contracting and procurement, conflicts of interest and ethics, taxation, and finance.
The attorneys on the Finance, Government Operations, and Technology Team counsel the Technology Services and Solutions Department, the Finance Agency, the Assessor’s Office, County Library, Clerk of the Board, Facilities and Fleet Department, Procurement Department, and Registrar of Voters. Steve also oversees the County’s Whistleblower Program. Steve joined the Office of the County Counsel in 2008 and was appointed Assistant County Counsel in 2014. Steve was a journalist before going to law school and an engineer before he was a journalist.
