Nandini Iyer
Deputy County Counsel
Overview
Nandini Iyer joined the Office of the County Counsel in 2017 and is a member of the Child and Family Protection and Human Services Teams. Nandini advises the Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) in its efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect, and support families at risk of becoming involved in the juvenile dependency system. Nandini represents DFCS in trials, statutory hearings, mediations, and other proceedings, and also advises DFCS on various policy matters. Nandini also advises the County’s Social Services Agency on program development, evaluation, and service delivery relating to public benefits, child welfare services, and services for adults and elders. In particular, Nandini has an interest and expertise in issues related to compliance, data governance, privacy, and data sharing.
Before joining the Office of the County Counsel, Nandini practiced juvenile dependency law at the County of Alameda’s Office of the County Counsel, and was an associate at Jones Day where her practice focused on anti-corruption efforts, government and internal investigations, and privacy compliance.
Nandini’s professional expertise includes juvenile dependency law, juvenile dependency mediations, trials, hearings, investigations and compliance, privacy, including data breaches, and complex litigation.
