Matthew Stanek

Matthew Stanek joined the Office of the County Counsel in November of 2007 and works on the Workers’ Compensation Team.  His practice focuses on the litigation of workers’ compensation claims, and he appears at various District Offices of the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, including San Jose, Oakland, Salinas, and San Francisco.  He has served as a Judge Pro Tem at the San Jose Board.  He has resolved hundreds of workers’ compensation cases through informal resolution, arbitration, and litigation.  He has represented both defendants and applicants during his career and very much enjoys representing the County.  Matt’s professional expertise includes litigation before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, appellate litigation, industrial disability retirements (San Jose police and fire), and Social Security Disability claims.
