Lead Deputy County Counsel
Overview
Lauren Lystrup joined the Office of the County Counsel in 2022. Lauren leads the Equal Opportunity and Employment Investigations Team and is also a member of the Labor and Employment Team and Education Law Team. Lauren advises County departments on all aspects of labor and employment law, including personnel investigations, discipline, and reasonable accommodations. As a member of the Education Law Team, Lauren provides advice to the Santa Clara County Office of Education as well as to local school and community college districts. Prior to joining the County, Lauren represented youth with disabilities in administrative actions, civil litigation, and negotiations with local education agencies. She litigated multiple putative class action lawsuits involving disability and race discrimination claims. Lauren’s professional expertise includes equal opportunity and anti-discrimination law, labor law, and special education.
