Deputy County Counsel
Overview
Kevin Hammon joined the Office of the County Counsel in 2007 and serves in the Office’s Child and Family Protection Team. He represents the County’s Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) in child abuse and neglect cases. In this capacity, Kevin has handled a wide variety of trials, statutory hearings, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Kevin also represents the County in Non-Minor Dependent hearings, which include former foster youth between the ages of 18 and 21. Kevin has handled appeals, standing orders, and educational-rights issues. Outside the Child and Family Protection Team, Kevin has served with the Office’s litigation and workers’ compensation teams. Kevin’s professional expertise includes child dependency law, DFCS policies and procedures, extended foster care, Dependency Wellness Court, substance-abuse-related legal issues, and trials and alternative dispute resolution.
