Henry Gaus
Lead Deputy County Counsel
Overview
Henry Gaus joined the Office of the County Counsel in February of 2016, and works on the Workers’ Compensation Team. His practice focuses on all aspects of litigation related to defense of workers’ compensation claims before the Bay Area District Offices of the Appeals Board, including San Jose, Salinas, Oakland, and San Francisco. He has served as a Judge Pro Tem at the San Jose Board, and is certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law. He has brought hundreds of workers’ compensation cases to conclusion through litigation, informal resolution, arbitration, and mediation. Mr. Gaus began his legal career in civil litigation, involving primarily insurance liability defense, and had been defending workers compensation claims for a broad base of clients for approximately 27 years before joining the County Counsel team. Henry’s professional expertise includes litigation before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, appellate litigation, and subrogation litigation.
