
Sara Shapero
Deputy County Counsel
Overview
Sara Shapero joined the Office of the County Counsel in 2025 and is a member of the Office’s Child and Family Protection Team. She represents the County’s Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) in child abuse and neglect cases, including at hearings, mediations, conferences, and contested trials. Sara also advises DFCS on a variety of juvenile dependency matters and policies.
Prior to joining the Office of the County Counsel, Sara was an associate attorney at Hoge, Fenton, Jones, & Appel, Inc. for four years, practicing family law and general civil litigation. She started her career working at the Law Offices of Kathryn Schlepphorst, where she practiced family law and dependency law, focusing primarily on issues pertaining to custody and visitation and domestic violence.
